Class Formats

  • This popular format caters to all levels of practitioners and draws upon Ashtanga yoga along with other modalities. The practice builds from the ground to standing and back to the ground in 60 minutes leaving you energized, restored, and balanced.

  • This class is for experienced practitioners. I will guide you through the entire primary series of Ashtanga Yoga counting the traditional vinyasa in Sanskrit. The purpose of the class is to learn the sequence in correct order, synchronize breath and movement, and surrender to my pace. The meditative flow will build strength, stamina, and concentration.

  • Mysore refers to the way Ashtanga Yoga is traditionally taught in its home city of Mysore, India. Mysore class is a supervised self led practice in a group setting. Each student is taught the asanas (postures) individually so they can easily memorize the sequence and move through the practice with confidence. In class the student will advance at a personal rate with guidance from an experienced teacher.

What My Community Says

  • I have enjoyed tremendously the past three and a half years with Carly. She was so great in person and pivoted so well to online sessions when Covid shut down the city. She has been such a great instructor bridging together my friend’s novice yoga practice with mine, which is more advanced, and has done it harmoniously, making things both easy to follow while also challenging. She is skillful and generous and can offer tremendous benefits to any level of ability or experience.

  • Carly and I have now been working together for about ten years and the impact on mind and body has been a revelation. Carly is a wonderful caring person and a joy to be with. Her thoughtfully designed sessions leave me relaxed and restored, but also very proud of what she has helped me to achieve. Now in my 80s, I am quite strong still, but also more limber and flexible than I have ever been before. Yoga is wonderful, but practicing with Carly is exceptional. I am forever grateful.

  • Although walking into my first private yoga session was a terrifying experience, my fear disappeared instantly when I met Carly. She is the kind of teacher you dream about—kind, funny, insightful and nurturing. While she has a deep knowledge of and love for yoga, she is also humble and gentle in her approach. Her unique way of knowing just how much to challenge and just how much to support has helped me grow. Because of her ability as a teacher, I have developed strength and flexibility in my body that I had thought was gone for good.

  • To me, Carly's quality as a teacher does not just rest in her amazing ability to do and teach asana, and to adjust her students to reach physical limits beyond expectation, but it is to teach her students to go beyond the poses and expectations and to help them embrace where they are in their practice and by doing this, where they are in their life. With Carly’s passion for yoga and compassion for her students, she was able to teach me a valuable lesson, that yoga can truly heal me and that it goes beyond any physical practice.

  • Carly is an expert on the human body.  She has designed a yoga practice for me personally that involves stretch, strength, and, most importantly, balance. She knows when to push me and also when to modify poses for my body's needs. She a delight to have in my home and loves my dog too!
